Have you ever been to a wedding that you knew you'd never forget?
Well I have. I mean I see weddings on an every-weekend basis for about half the year, which can be both amazing and hectic. I mean it IS a wedding after all. But every once in a while I have a wedding that just really blows my mind - whether it be the amazing food, the fun reception or in this case, Mother Nature. As a wedding photographer, I've had to mentally train myself to find solutions relatively quickly in any given situation. You know the saying "weddings never go as planned"? Well if you haven't, let me be the first to tell you, THAT'S THE DANG TRUTH. I tell every single couple I work with to prepare for the worst and hope for the best because on Wedding Day, everything that can happen will happen.
Madison and Alex planned a sunset ceremony at the GORGEOUS Low Meadow Estates in Mount Holly, NC for November 30, 2019. A candlelit walkway down to the amazingly (is that even a word?) decorated arbor by some of Madison's dear family friends where the man of her dreams will be waiting and all of their family and friends will be watching as the sun sets to a perfect glow to match the candlelit walkway. Sounds pretty romantic right? WELLLLL that halfway happened! They had their candlelight and gorgeous floral arrangements, and she even had the man of her dreams standing there all James Bond-y waiting on her. But what we weren't expecting was a completely grey day followed by absolutely no sunset. If you're a photographer, you know that means hello flash photography everywhere (insert major face palm) - and if you're not a photographer, then you know that a grey day doesn't sound romantic at all. Thankfully, I had my amazing second shooter (Madison Lynch Photography) with me and we were able to battle the darkness to and capture the pure magic of their ceremony. Including when the wedding rings didn't make it to the ceremony and one of the Bride's friends saved the day! Oh, and did I mention that they were calling for a torrential downpour during the wedding and it literally held off until we finished the ceremony, family photos AND a staged exit just to get the photos? Yeah, God really listened to everyone's prayers that day and held off for us all!! When the rain set in, so did the party, and I truly didn't want to leave! Their guests were so amazing, and in the words of Madison herself, she got to have the "middle school dance vibe reception" every Bride hopes to have! Okay, enough chit-chat, let's get on with why you're really here!
